This spring, as part of the University of Iowa’s 175th anniversary, the Stanley Reads book club will be reading A Thousand Acres by Jane Smiley. A Thousand Acres won the National Book Critics Circle Award for fiction in 1991 and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1992.

Min Jin Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea and immigrated to Queens, New York with her family in 1976 when she was seven years old. Lee is a graduate of the Bronx High School of Science and was inducted into the Bronx Science Hall of Fame.
