Please join us for a reading and conversation with Daniel Khalastchi and Marc Rahe to celebrate the release of their new books American Parables and Gravity Well

Daniel Khalastchi is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and the author of three books of poetry—Manoleria (Tupelo Press), Tradition (McSweeney’s), and American Parables (University of Wisconsin Press, winner of the Brittingham Prize in Poetry). His work has appeared in numerous publications, including The Believer LoggerColorado ReviewDenver QuarterlyThe Iowa ReviewPoetry Northwest, and Best American Experimental Writing. A former fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Daniel currently lives in Iowa City where he directs the University of Iowa’s Magid Center for Undergraduate Writing. He is the cofounder and managing editor of Rescue Press, and his recent awards include a residency at the Hermitage Artist Retreat.  

Marc Rahe is the author of The Smaller Half (Rescue Press, 2010), On Hours (Rescue Press, 2015), and Gravity Well (Rescue Press, 2020). His poems have appeared in Couplet Poetry, The Iowa Review, jubilat, MAKE Literary Magazine, Pangyrus, PEN Poetry Series, and other literary journals. He lives in Iowa City.
