Mitchell S. Jackson will give a brief reading and then a question and answer session at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 17 in the Frank Conroy Reading Room of the UI Glenn Schaeffer Library.
Mitchell S. Jackson’s debut novel The Residue Years and his nonfiction book Survival Math: Notes on an All-American Family received wide critical praise. Jackson is the winner of a Whiting Award and The Ernest J. Gaines Prize for Literary Excellence. A formerly incarcerated person, Jackson is also a social and criminal justice advocate who, as part of his outreach, visits prisons and youth facilities in the United States and abroad.
