Experienced, aspiring, and amateur writers alike: this summer, make our museums your muse.
Be sure to join us for the next Write Nite as we welcome a very special guest guide! Our Write Nite events are usually a self-guided experience through our galleries after hours, but the next one will feature the award winning author and Iowa Writers' Workshop grad, Nora Claire Miller.
Nora will lead a generative found poetry workshop. The Museum of Natural History is full of spectacular specimens, but it's also full of fascinating text. This workshop will explore how we as writers can draw inspiration from not only the world around us, but also from the language we encounter as we move through it. Participants will learn about found poetry, and then will write and share their own found poems from materials they encounter in the museum. All ages, all experience levels are welcome!
Nora Claire Miller is a writer from New York City. Her chapbook, LULL, was the winner of the 2019 Ghost Proposal Chapbook Contest. Her poems appear or are forthcoming in Tagvverk, The Brooklyn Review, APARTMENT, Pulpmouth, and elsewhere. Nora attended the Iowa Writers' Workshop.
