Writers’ Workshop graduates Chris Bolin and Abby Chew will read from their recent poetry collections.
Chris Bolin will read from Form from Form. “In its austere tableaux and impersonal but poetically authoritative language, Bolin’s work . . . creat[es] an overall and haunting impression of mankind’s struggle with the material world as he tries to tame, engineer, modify, exploit, find a place in, and save it.” —Geoffrey Nutter, author of Cities at Dawn
Christopher Bolin is also the author of Ascension Theory. He teaches writing at the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University, and lives in St. Joseph, Minnesota.
Abby Chew will read from A Bear Approaches the Sky. “With acute, earth-bound diction and wind-stained tones, Abby Chew’s poems evoke a sensory world that is not quite human, one that feels remnant of our more richly animal past, when we were ‘never without the hunting teeth.’” —Emily Wilson, author of Micrographia and The Keep
Abby Chew is the author of Discontinued Township Roads and received an Orlando Prize for poetry. She is from Indiana and teaches English at Crossroads School in Santa Monica, California.
