The Department of Theatre Arts invites you to attend "A Conversation with Rick Cleveland," moderated by Art Borreca.
Rick is an Emmy-winning writer/producer, playwright and monologuist, and a graduate (1995 MFA) of the University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts.
Rick’s career highlights include television credits: The West Wing, Six Feet Under, Legit, Mad Men, Nurse Jackie, House Of Cards, and Archer. Rick’s film Jerry And Tom, adapted from his stage play, was an official selection at the Sundance and Toronto Film Festivals, and he also co-wrote the screenplay for John Grisham’s Runaway Jury, starring John Cusack, Rachel Weisz and Gene Hackman. The script was nominated for an Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Mystery screenplay. As a monologuist, Rick performed his solo show “My Buddy Bill” at the Berkshire Theatre Festival, the Goodman Theater in Chicago and the Geffen Theater in Los Angeles. He won the Solo Award at the HBO Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen and performed the show at the 92nd Street Y in NYC for a one-hour Comedy Central special. As a playwright, he founded American Blues Theatre, the second oldest ensemble based theater company in Chicago and was also a founding member of the Ojai Playwrights Conference.
