The Writers' Workshop presents a reading with Yaa Gyasi and Emily Wilson.

Yaa Gyasi was born in Ghana and raised in Huntsville, Alabama. Her debut novel, Homegoing, won her the National Book Critics Circle’s John Leonard Award for best first book, the PEN/Hemingway Award for a first book of fiction, the National Book Foundation’s “5 under 35” honors for 2016, and the American Book Award. In  2020, she won the Vilcek Prize for Creative Promise in Literature and published her second novel, Transcendent Kingdom.

Emily Wilson is the author of The KeepMicrographia, and The Great Medieval Yellows. Educated at Harvard University and the Iowa Writers' Workshop, she is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. She has taught at Colby College, Grinnell College, the University of Montana, and the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
